Princess Beatrice is "under a lot of pressure" and trying to keep one royal on side amid the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, an expert has claimed. Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News that "the reality" is Beatrice feels pressured "at the moment" and is trying to support her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, without "annoying" the Royal Family.
Mr Pelham Turner suggested the one royal she is particularly keen to keep on side is her cousin and heir to the throne, Prince William. His comments came after Beatrice's father and mother, Sarah Ferguson, were named in files released by the US Justice Department relating to an investigation into the late paedophile, Epstein. Being named in the Epstein files is no indication of any wrongdoing.
Prince William is rumoured to have never been on good terms with his uncle Andrew. The future king reportedly long wanted the former prince to be banished from the Royal Family over his close ties with Epstein.
An insider told the Mirror's royal editor, Russell Myers, that William had seen how Andrew behaved to staff in a "dismissive" and "aggressive" manner, adding they had "never seen eye to eye".
Mr Pelham Turner told Fox News Beatrice is caught between her father and cousin. Meanwhile, Myers' royal insider told him William has "no umbrage" with either of the York sisters, but no love is lost for their parents.
Broadcaster, Helen Chard, told the US broadcaster Beatrice felt "distraught" about her wider family life amid the ongoing Epstein scandal.
King Charles has already taken steps to try and contain the fallout. Late last year he stripped Andrew of all his remaining titles, including his status as a prince, in a bid to draw a line between his brother and the rest of the royals.
Andrew was arrested last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office after allegations he shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the UK's trade envoy.
He has previously denied any wrongdoing over his links to the convicted sex offender, but has not directly responded to the latest allegations.
Relations between Beatrice's mother and Epstein have also been in the spotlight after documents released in the Epstein files included the former Duchess of York describing him as the brother she never had.
It also emerged Fergie had lunch with Epstein in the US with Beatrice and Princess Eugenie after his release from prison in 2008 following a conviction for soliciting a prostitute and procuring a person under 18 for prostitution.
