Bee Gees star Maurice Gibb's "secret son" has hit back at Lulu's claims her late former husband fathered him during their six-year marriage. The singer, 77, split from the 60s legend in 1973 before the couple had any children. But in an interview on The Louis Theroux Podcast last week, Lulu claimed that Maurice had "potentially" fathered the child while she was married to the hitmaker.
Nick Endacott-Gibb, 57, has now spoken out and insisted he was conceived two years before Lulu and Maurice's romance began. Speaking to the Mirror, Nick said: "I was born in April 1968, conceived in August 1967. Lulu and Maurice weren't married until 1969, after what has been described for decades as a 'whirlwind' romance...
"Were you together with him, Lulu? Two years does not a whirlwind make. I'm as curious as she is about whether Maurice was with her at the time I was conceived. It was the summer of love, after all!"
Nick was born in Woolwich, south London, and placed in a children's home before being adopted at 18 months by Peggy, a secretary, and David, a chartered quantity surveyor. He enjoyed a stable upbringing in East Sussex alongside three siblings.
His adoptive parents, both now deceased, encouraged his search for his biological family, which he first attempted in his twenties before abandoning the effort and resuming in 2001.
The Bee Gees star had died from a cardiac arrest in 2003, meaning Nick would never meet him.
Maurice has two known children, daughter Samantha and son Adam, with second wife Yvonne Spenceley.
Lulu's comments emerged during her appearance on the Louis Theroux podcast, where the host raised Maurice's acknowledged affair with Barbara Windsor during their relationship.
"I think he's got a son. It might have happened when we were married," Lulu said, explaining she had only recently discovered the information.
Lulu and Maurice wed on February 18, 1969, following their meeting on Top of the Pops, divorcing in 1973.
