A stretch of a major motorway was brought to a standstill following a road traffic collision. All lanes on the M1 northbound between junctions J29 and J29a were closed on Saturday morning, March 15. The entry slip on the M1 northbound at junction 29 was also shut down.
Derbyshire Police responded to the incident, with National Highways saying: "Due to an ongoing Derbyshire Police-led incident, the M1 is currently closed in both directions within J29A near Staveley. TrafficOfficers are on scene to assist with strategic closures on the approach with traffic being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at this stage." Traffic cameras in the areaw show lengthy queues building up.
