
An investigation has been launched following a "serious assault" in a UK town as police appeal for witnesses to come forward. Kent Police were called to reports of a man suffering injuries consistent with stab wounds in Steven Close, Chatham, on March 12.

Kent Police said: "Detectives have launched an investigation following a serious assault in Chatham and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
"Kent Police was called at 10.35pm on Thursday 12 March 2026 to reports of a man suffering injuries consistent with stab wounds in Steven Close.
"Officers attended alongside colleagues from the South East Coast Ambulance Service, who treated the man before conveying him to a local hospital. He remains in a serious but stable condition.
"Investigators identified a private property in nearby Gordon Road as the scene where the alleged incident took place and forensics are currently attending the location.
