
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife on a school premises after a teenage girl was stabbed at a secondary school near Norwich, police said. The girl has since been released from hospital following the stabbing at Thorpe St Andrew School shortly before 10.30am on Wednesday. Pupils were put into lockdown in their classrooms after the incident on Laundry Lane.
In a statement on Thursday, Norfolk Police said: “The 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He has since been charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife on a school premises. He cannot be named for legal reasons.
“He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Norwich Youth Court tomorrow morning (Friday March 13 2026).
“Officers will continue to conduct reassurance patrols both at the school and in the area over the coming days.”
Thorpe St Andrew School, which counts more than 1,800 pupils, reopened on Thursday. However, principal Penny Bignell said children who did not feel ready to return would be supported.
