Aldi is set to create more than 1,100 new store jobs across the UK in 2026 as it invests more than £370 million to open around 40 new stores. According to consumer group Which?, Aldi was the cheapest supermarket in February for the second month running in 2026, with a list of 89 items costing £161.56 on average. The retailer currently operates more than 1,080 stores across the UK.
The supermarket is also investing an additional £300 million in upgrading and extending existing stores. Aldi is now hiring for a wide range of store positions. These include both full-time and part-time positions such as Store Assistants and Cleaners, all the way up to Store Managers, with salaries of up to £69,000.
Kelly Stokes, Recruitment Director at Aldi UK, said: “We want to encourage more people across the UK to consider a career in retail, starting with high-quality training and development that gives people the skills and confidence to succeed.
“As we open more stores, we’re creating more opportunities for people to start to build rewarding careers with Aldi.
"With market-leading pay, clear progression routes and ongoing support, we’re helping more people grow in retail while bringing Aldi’s award-winning, affordable products to more local communities.”

The pay rise forms part of a £42 million investment in colleague pay during 2026 alone. According to the retailer, its rates exceed those offered by other major UK supermarkets.
Aldi also says it remains the only major supermarket to offer paid breaks to all colleagues, a benefit estimated to be worth around £1,500 per year for the average store worker.
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said at the end of February: “Our colleagues work incredibly hard to deliver exceptional value for our customers, and we’re rewarding that dedication with the highest pay in the sector.
“We’ve invested over £42 million in colleague pay this year because we know that every single member of Team Aldi is fundamental to our success and deserve nothing less.”
