The benchmark oil price, Brent crude, also dropped by -4.49%, to 8.533. This comes as, on the weekend, the Iran crisis saw oil prices spike to nearly $120 per barrel. This came after Mr Trump said the war with Iran is "very complete" as US forces have destroyed Tehran's navy and air force, he claimed.
He told GB News: "I think the war is very complete, pretty much. They have no navy, no communications, they've got no air force. Their missiles are down to a scatter.
"Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones. If you look, they have nothing left. There's nothing left in a military sense."
