A low-cost airline has added more flights between the UK and Thailand for next week. Norse Atlantic Airways announced two extra round-trip flights between London Gatwick Airport (LGW) and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), one of two airports that serve the Thai capital, Bangkok.

The Norwegian carrier says the move comes in response to increased demand for travel to and from Europe and Southeast Asia. US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, the retaliatory attacks by Tehran that followed, have had a huge impact on travel routes in the Middle East. Norse Atlantic Airways says recent developments airspace in parts of the region have led to changes in global flight operations and brought an greater demand for alternative routings between continents.

The firm said it added the following flights to help support passengers and maintain crucial connectivity:

  • March 9 – LGW–BKK (Z0793) – 12:25 local time
  • March 10 – BKK–LGW (Z0794) – 09:50 local time
  • March 11 – LGW–BKK (Z0793) – 08:50 local time
  • March 12 – BKK–LGW (Z0794) – 05:25 local time

Norse says the additional services will help accommodate travelers affected by changing travel patterns as well as the increased travel demand.

The extra flights will be operated with the carrier's Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with Economy and Biz Premium cabins.

So far only those additional flights have been announced, it's not clear if Norse is planning to organise more.

Express.co.uk has approached the carrier for comment.

Norse Atlantic Airways chief executive Eivind Roald said the airline "was built to provide long-haul connectivity between continents in a flexible and efficient way".

“At times when global events affect travel flows, it becomes even more important that reliable infrastructure exists to keep people, families and businesses connected,” Mr Roald added.
