Iran has warned it will bomb any tankers trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and won't let any oil leave the region after closing the critally important route.

Ebrahim Jabari, a senior adviser to the Guards commander-in-chief, announced that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and Iran will attack any ship trying to pass. In remarks carried by Iranian state media, he said: "The Strait (of Hormuz) is closed. If anyone tries to pass, the heroes of the Revolutionary Guards and the regular navy will set those ships ablaze."
