A friend of Loose Women's Kaye Adams has reportedly told The Sun that Kaye's departure from the BBC "feels like a stitch-up". The source added: "Her ratings are really good - the highest on BBC Scotland. She's worked there for 15 years without issue, and at ITV without complaints since 1999. Are we to believe she has suddenly become a different person? She's freelance, so they could have just said, 'This isn't working out'. It doesn't make sense, unless the BBC just wanted her out and didn't want to be accused of ageism and sexism as it has been in the past."
Kaye will not be resuming her role on her BBC Scotland radio show. Adams was removed from her morning radio programme, Mornings With, back in October. The decision was allegedly made in light of accusations regarding her conduct, although the BBC has refrained from commenting on the specifics. BBC Scotland confirmed that the current presenter line-up would remain unchanged for now.
A spokesperson stated: "With regard to the presentation line-up on Mornings With, Kaye Adams will not be returning to this role. In the immediate future Connie McLaughlin will continue to present Mornings With on Mondays to Wednesdays, with Stephen Jardine presenting on Thursdays and Fridays."
The 63 year old was accused of inappropriate behaviour towards colleagues, including hurling a pen at one, using offensive language against another, and undermining an intern and their professional abilities – all of which were upheld, it is alleged. Two other claims were reportedly dismissed, according to the Mail Online
The BBC previously stated that it "would not comment on individuals", assuring the public that they handle complaints through "robust internal processes". Adams has previously refuted any wrongdoing, suggesting her "assertiveness" may have been misconstrued as bullying.
The BBC's Call It Out scheme is thought to have been utilised to lodge the complaint. This initiative was established to tackle inappropriate conduct in the workplace, following the controversy surrounding former MasterChef host Gregg Wallace.
Kaye discussed her experience on her podcast, How To Be 60, towards the end of last year. Speaking with co-host Karen MacKenzie, she stated: "I have to warn you if you're here for the laughs you might be disappointed because we have both had the s****iest weeks ever, albeit for very different reasons."
When asked about her feelings, Kaye responded sarcastically: "Oh, I'm great!" She mentioned that she had been rising later as she hasn't been on the show, meaning her partner Ian Campbell's alarm now rings before hers.
She continued: "I tell you what I'm finding hard is not sleeping cos I love my sleep and I'm not sleeping so well. I tell you something – this is gallows humour – because I'm not getting up at 6am like I used to, it's Ian's alarm that goes off first.
"I don't usually hear Ian's alarm because I am up and out and away. Do you know what Ian's alarm is? Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life! ," she revealed.
