Superstar couple Beyonce and Jay-Z have now reportedly changed their mind about their huge Cotswolds move. The famous duo, who have been together since 2001, would have joined the likes of Jeremy Clarkson, Ellen DeGeneres, Hugh Grant, and David and Victoria Beckham as residents of the famous city. The music icons, who are worth a combined £1.5billion, were said to be buying a £7.5million 58-acre plot in the rural village, which had planning permission for a seven-bed property.

Despite this, insiders told The Sun that the chart-toppers eventually snubbed the mansion after learning the area was prone to flooding. The source said: "Beyonce and Jay-Z buying this plot of land was the talk of the Cotswolds. So many locals were excited about them moving in, but the plan appears to have fallen through."

The insider added: "The plot they were looking at has still not been sold and is now being developed by another couple. It’s a flood-prone area, and that will definitely have put a dampener on proceedings — especially with all the rain we’ve had over the past month."

Flooding also forced US chat show host Ellen to sell the Cotswolds home she shared with her wife, former actress Portia de Rossi. Back in August, the 67-year-old revealed: "We decided we needed a different house, and now we are selling that house. So if anyone wants a house, it's a beautiful stone farmhouse."

Before snubbing the mansion, Beyonce and Jay-Z were said to be in the final stages of purchasing a huge plot of land on the outskirts of Wigginton, a sleepy village which has no pub or shops, only two churches and a community book swap shop.

The property overlooks a lake in the sleepy Oxfordshire hotspot and is listed as an 18-acre site with permission to build a "large contemporary" home with seven bedrooms, seven reception rooms and seven bathrooms.

It said: "Oxpens is totally unique. The site for the new house is at the head of a long drive that meanders through beautiful countryside to a magical woodland lake."

When planning permission was granted in 2021, architects described the plot, with an ash plantation and man-made lake, as being in a "poor state" but "nonetheless rather magical, and full of exciting potential".

Its brief included a multi-generational house where three households could live independently, while being linked. This likely interested the famous couple who share three children: Blue Ivy, 14, and twins Rumi and Sir, eight.
