TikTok star Te Whero has tragically died aged 16. The young social media star, who rose to fame with his Freddie Mercury impressions, died one week after being diagnosed with cancer. The New Zealander gained a large following worldwide in 2022 for posting a video of him singing the Queen hit, I Want To Break Free, while dressed like Freddie Mercury. Earlier this month, his mother, Te Warena, confirmed his death on TikTok and told fans: "Yesterday, my Te Whero grew his set of angel wings and is no longer in pain.
"We will be having a small service on Sunday in Wellington, you are all then will take my boy to Taupiri Maunga. It has been an honour to have been your Māmā (sic)." She revealed that Whero started suffering from a sore leg and spent a day on the sofa, but the next day it progressed to stomach pain, which led to him vomiting, prompting a visit to the hospital. After scans, doctors confirmed that the 16-year-old had cancer in his stomach and brain.
