TV star Cass Lacelle died at the age of 34 on Wednesday February 11, following a “short but incredibly courageous battle with cancer.” Her family confirmed the death of the popular celebrity, who rose to fame after appearing on the reality series Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Monday, February 16. "Cass leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured. She is the definition of memorable; in just 34 years, she made an extraordinary impact on everyone who crossed her path. She taught us that life is precious, meant to be embraced wholeheartedly and never wasted. Boredom was her biggest enemy. Cass had a rare gift for making people feel truly alive and bringing everyone together, she was the glue.
"Her ability to be there in a meaningful way for so many people was a superpower, and we hope people find comfort in memories shared with her. Because she has touched so many people far and wide, her wish was for one final post to be shared. Our dearest Cass, you have been very brave for so very long. You did not yield Forever, our Fireheart," they wrote.
Cass had only announced her diagnosis less than a year ago in May 2025 and had undergone emergency surgery to remove a tumor. She had also completed multiple rounds of chemotherapy in the hopes of getting the all clear. Sadly on January 4th, she shared the sad news her cancer had returned.
In a heartbreaking clip posted from her hospital bed she fought back tears as she told followers the cancer had now "metastasised to her liver, stomach, abdominal lining, and omentum." She shockingly admitted she had been in hospital almost a month at that stage having entered the facility on December 6. She also said she hadn’t lived a "pain-free day" since mid-November.
"At peak pain is when I need the big drugs," she said. "They work wonders but usually put me on my a**. Which is why it’s been so hard to check my phone, I’m either loopy and have no idea what’s going on or the pain meds have put me back to sleep.
"Unfortunately with this new chemo regime hair loss is a very common side effect and they’ve been preparing me for that. I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. This is going to break me pretty badly but I’ll just have to learn how to do better makeup," she added.
Tributes and condolences flooded in from fans as the news of Cass's death became public. On wrote on Instagram: "Such an incredible light. An honor to have shared your infectious smile and energy. With the faeries now."
Another added: "Truly an angel on earth and in heaven. Will miss her contagious energy and laugh." A third chimed in: "A star that will never dull. Keep shining bright in our hearts and minds, Cass."
A fourth shared: "Cassie you will forever be missed you are the purest more beautiful human being." A fifth penned: "Your wonderful, warm and vibrant energy will always be remembered You brought so much joy into this world, rest in peace Cass."
Meanwhile, a sixth friend lamented: "Cassie!! You are truly an amazing person. I’ve been replaying the memories and good times we had back in the day and I will never forget your infectious laugh! You only brought positive vibes to this world and I am so happy to have met you. May you rest in paradise."
