Tesco Clubcard shoppers are being urged to spend 65p in stores before Friday to bag a limited-time deal.
The supermarket chain is running a ‘Kids eat free’ offer across its 332 cafes this week to help families save money during the February half-term break. The offer is available in all Tesco cafes in England, Wales and Scotland from now until Friday, February 20, so shoppers don’t have long to make the most of the offer. The deal allows Clubcard members to get one free kids meal per item purchased by an adult in a Tesco cafe.
But there’s no fixed minimum spend to get the freebie, so adults technically don’t have to buy a main meal for themselves - you could just spend a mere 65p for a piece of fruit instead and be eligible for a free kids meal in return.
Kids can choose from an array of breakfast items, including eggs and soldiers or pancakes, while main meals include fish fingers, chips and peas, a mini pizza with chips and veg, tomato pasta shells with garlic bread, and pork sausages with mash and beans.
Alternatively, there’s a pick ‘n’ mix lunch deal which includes a sandwich, drink, two snacks and a piece of fruit.
MoneySavingExpert (MSE) explains: “You can get one free kids' meal per item purchased by an adult in the café.
“The great thing about this offer compared to many other kids eat 'free' deals is there's no fixed minimum spend, or requirement to buy a 'main meal'. This means you could pay just 65p for a piece of fruit in a Tesco café to claim the freebie.
“Kids’ meals usually cost up to £3.50, and they can choose from a breakfast (such as beans or avocado on toast), a hot meal deal (such as fish fingers or mac and cheese with a vegetable side dish), or the pick 'n' mix deal (sandwich, drink, fruit and two snacks). What's available may vary across different cafés.”
Shoppers must have a Clubcard or Clubcard app to get the deal which is only valid for dine-in only on weekdays, and a child must be present. The offer is subject to availability and kids meals may vary in cafes from location to location.
