Footage has emerged of a pro-Palestinian protestor confronting comedian Matt Lucas on the Tube just days after the High Court ruled that the proscription of Palestine Action under terrorism legislation is unlawful. On Sunday (February 15), a clip went viral of a protester approaching the unsuspecting comic travelling through the city to ask about his thoughts on the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In the video, the cameraman panned the phone over to the Little Britain star as he travelled up the escalator, before pulling him to one side to ask him if he had a problem with the pro-Palestine outfit he was wearing.
Matt simply replied: "I have no comment about it either way", before the cameraman asked him: "Do you have a problem with Palestinians?" to which he immediately replied: "No" before appearing to swipe the phone away from his face. The camera then panned over to the comic as he stepped on the second escalator while the narrator simply stated: "Silence".
The clip, which has been watched more than a million times since it was posted this afternoon has since garnered a wave of response online in support of the comic. Express.co.uk has approached Matt Lucas' representatives for a comment.
One user pointed out: "I'm no geo-political expert, but I'm really not sure that asking Matt Lucas to 'free' Palestine is going to have much effect, as I understand his trade is geared more towards the entertainment industry than magic-wand-waving Middle East diplomacy."
Another agreed: "That's not on. I hate the genocide in Gaza as much as the next person, but harassing Jewish people when they're going to a football match is pathetic."
A third added:"Matt Lucas just happens to be Jewish. He's never spoken up for Israel but still he's harassed with 'Free Palestine! Free Palestine!'. The Palestine movement is a Jew-hating movement. Ancient hatred of Jewish people is dressed up as progressive by people who think they are good."

Another agreed: "This is despicable harassment because Matt is Jewish. The Free Palestine movement is violent and racist and does not care about the Palestinians or peace - they only care that they can use violence and intimidation to indulge their hatred of Jews. Enough is enough!"
As a fifth chimed in with: "Can't they just leave the bloke alone? Not everybody is obsessed with Israel and Palestine. If that floats your boat, then fine, but other people just want to go about their lives without things that are important to you impeding their day-to-day."
Meanwhile, a sixth asked: "This is absolutely deranged behaviour. Why are these brainwashed cultists filming Matt Lucas in public, and shouting 'Free Palestine' at him?"
The confrontation comes just days after the Home Office's decision to proscribe Palestine Action under anti-terrorism legislation was ruled unlawful. However, the group remained banned for now to allow for further legal arguments and to give the government time to consider an appeal.
This is a massive blow to the government, as three senior judges argued that while Palestine Action uses criminality to promote its aims, its activities had not crossed the very high bar to make it a terrorist organisation.
The decision means that while the group has successfully challenged the ban, expressing support for Palestine Action or taking part in its activities remains a serious criminal offence.
