It came just days after the couple shared the joyous news of Zahra Mariam’s birth. Abdul Mateen and Anisha made the announcement in a national broadcast on Sunday. The announcement revealed that the new baby girl was born on Sunday morning at 8.50am.
It also revealed the celebrations following the joyous news, with 17 cannon shots being fired in the grounds of Istana Nurul Iman, the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei.
RTB, the national public broadcaster of Brunei, said in a post on Instagram: “In compliance with the orders of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, hereby announces that His Royal Highness Princess Anisha Rosnah binti Adam, wife of His Royal Highness Prince Muda 'Abdul Mateen ibni His Royal Highness Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, with the permission of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala, has safely given birth to a daughter on Sunday, 20th, Syaaban, 1447 corresponding to 8th, February, 2026, at 8.50 am.

The royal couple announced they were expecting last October, when the prince took to his official Instagram account to share a sweet, black and white photo with his wife.
The photo, which showed them both dressed in white and seemingly dancing softly on a balcony, featured the message: “And then there were 3.”
While the new baby girl will be a welcome addition to the royal family of Brunei, she will not be eligible to feature in the line of succession.
The Constitution of Brunei states that succession to the Bruneian throne follows agnatic primogeniture, which only allows male descendants of the 26th Sultan, Muhammad Jamalul Alam II, to ascend to the throne.
Abdul Mateen himself is fifth in line to the Bruneian throne behind Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, his two sons, Prince Abdul Muntaqim and Prince Muhammad Aiman and the Sultan’s second son, Prince Abdul Malik, who is fourth.
The Sultan’s third son, Prince Abdul Azim, died in 2020, aged 38.
