A source has claimed that Andrew Mountbatton Windsor borrowed £12million from his parents and brother Charles to pay off Virginia Giuffre, and has not paid any of it back. Giuffre alleged that she was forced to have sexual relations with Andrew in the early 2000s, and said she was raped by him three times when she was 17 years old after she was sex trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has consistently vehemently denied the allegation.

Now, a source claims that Andrew borrowed £7million from the late Queen Elizabeth II, a further £3million from the estate of Prince Philip, and £1.5million from the then Prince Charles. However, the source claims that not a penny of the money has been paid back. Andrew originally planned to sell his Swiss ski chalet in order to repay the money, but he is said to have made next to nothing from the sale. Sources had said that he aimed to offload the property for £19million and use £12million of that to pay back his loans.

"As far as anyone knows, he still has not repaid a single penny of the millions he borrowed," a source told The Sun. "The money from the Royal Family bought her silence but denied Virginia her day in court and the chance to openly challenge his account of what happened."

The source added that the Royal family took "a little from here and a little from there" as they hoped to draw a line under the case ahead of the Platinum Jubilee in 2022. A source said: "Andrew lied to his own family about the extent of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

"They bankrolled his payoff to his accuser, Virginia Giuffre. They bought his lies and helped him try and make the problem go away.

"His own mother, the late Queen, was left heartbroken by the scandal. But she could not face banishing Andrew, who was still her beloved son."

They added: "She knew this was a problem that his brother Charles would tackle once she was gone — it only pushed the scandal down the road.

"People will be shocked to know so much came from the estate of his father, Prince Philip, who had died a year earlier. You can’t imagine that the Duke of Edinburgh ever would have expected that his savings would end up being spent on hush money."

Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing, but did pay a reported £12 million settlement to Giuffre. She died by suicide in April 2025, aged 41.

The massive payout ensured that Andrew would never have to face Giuffre in court. Giuffre later wrote a book, which was released after her death, detailing the abuse she said she suffered.
