At least four people have been injured in a mass stabbing near a major railway station, with police confirming the arrest of a young person.
A representative for Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) confirmed that officers were dispatched to the scene around 6pm local time.
Upon arrival, police encountered several youths with stab wounds. Paramedics confirmed that three patients were treated at the scene and subsequently transported to hospital.
A fourth individual also received medical attention but declined further transport.
In a statement released to the media, a police spokesperson said that officers responded to reports of "a large fight" outside the railway station.
"MCPD responded to a report of an assault in progress involving more than 20 juveniles," the spokesperson stated. "Three juvenile victims were stabbed and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth victim was injured but not stabbed during the assault and refused medical transport."
They added: "A juvenile suspect was arrested and charged. The investigation remains active and ongoing."
Metro Transit Police emphasised that the incident occurred off their premises and did not affect train services.
A probe into the large-scale fight and knife assault continues.
