Sir David Beckham has shared a pointed tribute to his children online, including estranged eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, just weeks after the 26-year-old launched an explosive public attack on his famous parents. On Monday (February 9), the former England captain took to Instagram to post images from his vast football boot archive, revealing that the names of all four of his children — Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper — are stitched into the footwear. The timing has not gone unnoticed.
Brooklyn’s name appeared alongside his siblings despite the deepening family rift sparked by his bombshell statement last month, in which he accused David and Victoria of controlling behaviour and repeatedly disrespecting his wife, Nicola Peltz. In a series of lengthy Instagram Stories, Brooklyn said he was finally ready to “tell the truth” and “stick up for [himself]”, claiming the feud had been brewing for years.
Among the most damaging allegations, Brooklyn said his mum pulled out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress “at the eleventh hour” and accused her of dancing on him “inappropriately” at their wedding celebrations.
He also claimed his father refused to see him unless Nicola was uninvited during tensions surrounding David’s 50th birthday celebrations. Brooklyn went further still, declaring that he had no intention of repairing the relationship.
The budding photographer wrote that he “does not wish to reconcile” with his family — a line that sent shockwaves through fans and only fuelled months of speculation about a bitter fallout.
Against that backdrop, David’s decision to include Brooklyn’s name in his latest post has been interpreted by many as a quiet olive branch. Fans were quick to comment on the apparent symbolism, especially given recent revelations surrounding Brooklyn’s tattoos.
Earlier this year, it emerged that Brooklyn had covered up an anchor tattoo on his arm that previously featured the word “DAD”, replacing it with a series of unknown symbols. At the time, a source said the move had deeply affected David.
A source told Metro: “David is obviously heartbroken over Brooklyn’s decision to cover up his tribute to him. It feels like a deep cut, even after everything that was said in his statement.”
David has previously spoken openly about what tattoos mean to him, explaining in his memoir that they are an “expression of how he feels about Victoria and the kids”.
Brooklyn, too, has long used tattoos as personal markers — including multiple tributes to Nicola — making the removal of the “DAD” tattoo all the more loaded. Another source later told The Sun that the decision had been deliberate and emotionally driven.
They said: “Brooklyn’s had laser treatment on the writing. He wanted it gone. There is so much hurt and pain on his side, it would not be genuine to keep such a tribute on his body.”
Despite the very public breakdown, neither David nor Victoria has responded directly to Brooklyn’s allegations. Instead, friends of the couple have previously spoken of their devastation, insisting they remain deeply family-orientated and hopeful that the situation can one day be repaired.
