Jeremy Clarkson has spoken out after shockingly realistic AI-generated posts falsely claimed his Clarkson's Farm had died. In his furious statement, the 65-year-old blasted the fake stories, which circulated widely on social media, describing them as “completely realistic” and deeply upsetting. In his column, Jeremy revealed that the post falsely claimed that TV favourite Gerald Cooper, the show’s dry-stone waller and much-loved “head of security”, had died.

The AI hoax was significantly concerning as it came after the star’s cancer diagnosis was made public throughout season three. The beloved 77-year-old revealed he had prostate cancer, and after successful radiotherapy treatment, he was declared cancer-free in 2024. Gerald has since returned to work at Diddly Squat Farm. Jeremy penned: “On Facebook this week, we heard from just my farm alone that Gerald has died, Kaleb has had another kid, Lisa has left me, and I’ve broken my leg.

“All of the stories were accompanied by a completely realistic photograph. And all of them were complete nonsense.”

The Top Gear star added to his column for The Sun that while he can brush off most online speculation as nonsense, this one crossed a line.

“Do I mind? Yes. Mostly because Gerald is unused to being in the public eye, and it worries him that his kids see this kind of thing online. So whoever’s doing it, pack it in.”

The posts reportedly used AI-generated images designed to look like legitimate news photographs to appear credible.

The false claims that Jeremy’s partner Lisa Hogan had left him, that he had broken his leg, and that farmhand Kaleb Cooper had welcomed a fourth child have now all been confirmed as untrue.

While Gerald reassured fans that he was “happy and cancer-free,” the episodes in which he spoke about his diagnosis showed Jeremy visibly emotional as he spoke about his fears for his colleague.

“I’ve been phoning around doctors,” the presenter said in one episode. “His odds are really good, but it’s scaring him to death. Poor man.”

"I know he doesn’t understand, and he’s bewildered because, for obvious reasons, somebody said, 'Look, I’m sorry it’s cancer,' and that’s all he heard. He’s desperately upset, terrified. Poor man."

Jeremy went on to hit out at AI users for "digitally removing clothes" from images of people, after X/Twitter's Grok feature was being used to "digitally undress" people.
