Actress and singer Kelly Yu, 36, shocked fans at a music festival in Guizhou as she collapsed on stage mid-performance. Harrowing footage of the incident showed the star looking wobbly as she took a few steps after performing her hit song, 'Original Sin'. Her band were visibly confused as the Chinese Canadian singer-songwriter crouched with her back to the audience leading to a crew member rushing on from backstage to check on her. Just as he got to her, she collapsed in his arms, and he gently lowered her onto the stage before running to get more help.

As the realisation of what was happening hit her band, they lowered their instruments and rushed to her aid, at which point the lights went down, and the stage went black. It was reported she had lost consciousness as further crew members arrived onstage with umbrellas to give her some privacy as thousands of fans watched on.

Witnesses to the incident said she had shown visible signs of exhaustion during her performance at the festival on February 1.

The star, who appeared opposite Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson in the 2022 sci-fi disaster film Moonfall, was rushed to the hospital for emergency tests, where she remains under observation. The cause of her collapse was reportedly fatigue, and she is expected to make a full recovery.

In a statement, her team said she had performed a concert in Shenzhen the day before and rushed to Guizhou for the festival. They said the sharp change in temperature, combined with lack of sleep, led to her fainting on stage.

A spokesperson added that she "is not in any immediate danger and is still under observation in hospital".

She began her career in music at 17 with the release of her self-made album, Evil Child.

Kelly then found fame as an actress in the 2017 Chinese romcom The Ex-File 3: The Return of the Exes. In total, she has 14 films to her credit as well as numerous TV shows.

She also appeared in season three of the reality show Sisters Who Make Waves, winning the show.

She has recorded six studio albums in her career, with her most recent, Scorpio, released in 2024.
