Attending the talk, Express.co.uk heard him tell the audience of one place that everyone should see due to its "peaceful" nature, as he praised a country in South Asia, Bhutan. He admitted: "I don't have any particular favourites, but the country that has the beautiful scenery, reasonable progress and the best feeling amongst the people is probably Bhutan." 

He explained that it's a small country, but hosts beautiful traditions, with the locals wearing traditional clothing and the homes built there having been around for 2-300 years. He added: "They're very, very aware of their legacy." 

Palin continued: "It has absolutely stunning walks, the mountains in Bhutan are some of the most gorgeous in the Himalayas." He shared a story of touring the country and said on one occasion they walked down a route to a stream that turned into a river. 

The TV favourite added: "It was wonderful. You feel very, very much at one with nature. There were no roads, no cars, it was peaceful. In Bhutan they are just very proud of their country." 

Between his travel shows and his books, he's shared his experiences in great detail, previously explaining that he became an accidental travel fanatic after accepting an offer to go around the world in 80 days, following the route of Phileas Fogg in the classic Jules Verne story. 

He filmed the telly doc in 1989, travelling by land and sea, and had an incredible experience, so now it's no wonder he's in a prime position to weigh in on his favourite locations and give talks to other eager travellers. He's often adding new books under his belt, with his last release in 2025 documenting his travels to Venezuela, while another is expected to be released later this year.
