A Met Office metereologist has issued a tornado alert for parts of the UK today.
Weather expert Alex Burkill has warned that a tornado is "not out of the question" as a funnel cloud is expected across parts of the south east of England on Wednesday, May 21. It comes as the region is being battered by thunder, lightning and hail storms on a day where there is a huge "north-south divide" - with parts of the north seeing sunny weather in comparison.
He added that "there will be further showery bursts to come as we go through the rest of today".
