If you want a gorgeous European beach holiday, you’re in luck. New research by DFDS revealed a stunning beach with crystal clear water and white sands just a stone's throw from the UK.
The research analysed over 5,000 Google reviews for positive keywords such as “clear water”, “picturesque”, and “tranquil” to uncover overlooked spots along the French coast - and the top-rated is just 90 minutes on the ferry. Beach Cap Blanc-Nez in Calais even beat out the famous hotspots of Nice and St. Tropez. even surpassing popular destinations like Nice and St Tropez.
This striking coastal spot is celebrated for its towering cliffs, wide sandy stretch, and crystal blue waters. On a clear day, visitors can even catch a glimpse of the White Cliffs of Dover across the English Channel.
Ideal for those seeking relaxation or a scenic adventure, Cap Blanc-Nez offers a tranquil alternative to France’s busier beach destinations.
It’s famed for its many hiking trails where walkers can explore and experience the gorgeous natural landscapes and wildlife.
The cliffs are home to a variety of seabirds which swoop past the coast and the ships passing between Calais and Dover are perfect to relax and watch out for. It’s also a great place to fossil hunt.
Because the beach is so close to the UK, on clear days you can look right over the channel and see the White Cliffs of Dover.
