WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Handmaid's Tale season 6, episode 8
The Hulu series, The Handmaid's Tale, is certainly escalating with a revolution brewing following the Gilead wedding of Serena Joy (portrayed by Yvonne Strahovski) to Commander Wharton (Josh Charles).
Unfortunately, Serena's dream was shattered when she discovered that Commander Wharton had brought a handmaid into their home, despite her being fertile.
A disgusted Serena quickly left his residence, presumably returning to New Bethlehem.
Simultaneously, the rise of the handmaids began in earnest in Boston as the women armed themselves with switchblades and started to overthrow their oppressors, reports the Mirror US.
Episode eight is undoubtedly building up towards the grand finale of The Handmaid's Tale - here's the rundown on the final episodes of the dystopian drama series.
The Handmaid's Tale season six consists of 10 episodes, with the first three premiering simultaneously on Hulu on April 8.
Subsequent episodes have been released weekly on Hulu, meaning the second-to-last episode titled Execution will be available on May 20 in the USA.
The Handmaid's Tale season six finale will air on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in America on Tuesday, May 25.
However, those in the UK will have to wait longer as season six only began airing on Channel 4 and Prime Video on May 3.
Episodes are being broadcast on a weekly basis on Saturdays, which means British fans will have to wait until Saturday, June 5 for the series finale.
The final episode of the show is titled The Handmaid's Tale and will wrap up June Osborne's (portrayed by Elisabeth Moss) narrative.
Bruce Miller, the executive producer and former showrunner, hinted that fans already knew the show's ending, as it would adhere closely to Margaret Atwood's novel.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: "Just think about it a little and you'll know exactly what's going to happen at the end of the show."
Miller clarified that the show wasn't "about Gilead or Boston even, or any revolutions", or the sequel novel The Testaments, but was solely centred on June's story.
He continued to explain how characters would now be "putting their money where their mouth is and taking action" even if the odds weren't in their favour.
The esteemed producer confirmed that June wouldn't be killed off at the end either.
D'Arcy Carden from The Good Place is confirmed to appear in the series finale as her enigmatic character Aunt Phoebe, who has been aiding Mayday in their efforts to overthrow the system.
Miller explained how he had to provide all of the characters with an ending and tried to find the most intriguing journey for each of them.
He hinted that out of all the characters, Serena had one of the "biggest" and "most complicated" endings.
The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 airs on Prime Video and Channel 4 on Saturdays in the UK
