In a sensational turn of events, over 150 years of combined courtroom prowess is embodied in the legal dream team recruited in for a highly-publicised case. The attorneys in this glitzy roster are known for representing figures such as Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, the infamous pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli, and hip-hop artist Young Thug.

ABC News Legal Contributor Brian Buckmire weighed in on this legal brigade, stating: "In looking at the team, especially on the first day of jury selection, it seems like they've got people who are experts in their own kind of general areas," and added "I think the team that Diddy has put together are some heavy hitters in their own rights, and they're working together as such."

Last year saw Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who lives by his renowned mantra "Bad Boy for Life," slapped with grave accusations, including involvement in racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and prostitution. Prosecutors assert that he used violence and coercion to elicit sexual favours, shield his business kingdom, and uphold his status as a titan within the rap music industry.

If found guilty, these serious charges could see Combs serving his remaining days behind bars.

Despite facing these allegations, Combs has firmly pleaded not guilty, steadfastly rejecting all claims against him and recently dismissing a plea offer. According to sources from ABC, his defence team is anticipated to champion the narrative that any sex was wholly consensual, reports the Mirror.

With an estimated net worth of £800 million, the 54 year old mogul isn't skimping on his legal defence. A look at the eminent lawyers suggests that Combs is pulling out all the stops to circumvent a potential life sentence.

Marc Agnifilo

Comprising the legal elite is Marc Agnifilo, a battle-hardened attorney with a knack for high-stakes cases, who leads the defence team. His record includes defending notorious figures such as NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere, "Pharma Bro" Martin Shkreli and former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng.

Despite his clients' notoriety, Raniere was sentenced to 120 years after being found guilty of running a secret sex cult where women were branded and blackmailed, whereas Shkreli faced seven years for a securities fraud, and Ng received a decade behind bars for participating in a $1.66 billion bribery scheme.

Boasting both state and federal prosecutorial experience, Agnifilo has a heavyweight legal resume with more than 200 trials under his belt over three decades. He's one half of a formidable legal partnership; his wife, Karen Friedman Agnifilo—a former Manhattan DA prosecutor known for probing the Trump Organization and recently representing Luigi Mangione, charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Teny Geragos

The defence is further bolstered by Teny Geragos, co-founder of the Agnifilo Intrater law firm in New York. With her involvement in both the Raniere and Shkreli cases alongside Agnifilo, she extends the firm's portfolio of controversial clients.

A relatively new face in the legal scene, Geragos graduated from Loyola Law School in 2016, carrying on the legacy of her father, high-profile attorney Mark Geragos, known for representing prominent figures like Hunter Biden, Chris Brown, and Michael Jackson.

Mark Geragos, although not directly involved in Combs' case, caused a stir during jury selection. Prosecutors asked the judge to remind him of court rules after he discussed the case on his podcast - rules that prohibit public comments which could jeopardise a fair trial.

In addition to Combs' case, Mark Geragos is also fighting for the release of notorious brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were convicted of murdering their parents over 35 years ago.

Alexandra Shapiro

Alexandra Shapiro brings top-tier appellate experience to the table. With more than three decades of experience, she once served as deputy chief of appeals for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan and advised the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel.

Shapiro is currently working on Sam Bankman-Fried's appeal following his criminal conviction and has multiple wins at the U.S. Supreme Court. She also clerked for the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg - an interesting coincidence, as the judge overseeing Combs' trial also once clerked for Ginsburg, albeit at a different time.

Brian Steel

Atlanta attorney Brian Steel, known for representing rapper Young Thug, has recently joined the defence team.

Young Thug's trial, the longest in Georgia history, saw the rapper plead guilty to multiple charges but avoid a significant prison sentence. Steel was even incarcerated during the trial for refusing to disclose how he discovered a private meeting between prosecutors, a witness, and the judge.

However, this contempt ruling was later overturned.

With such a powerful team and his billion-dollar war chest, Combs is fully committed to the fight of his life - and the world will be watching with bated breath.
