The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend a live celebratory concert from Horse Guards Parade to conclude the national VE Day commemorations this evening (8 May). The couple, who will not be joined by their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis, have attended several events to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember will be broadcast live on BBC1 and iPlayer, and will see veterans and wartime heroes reflect on their experiences of VE Day and the Second World War. The concert, which will also be attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla, will be a fitting tribute as the likes of Samantha Barks, Fleur East and John Newman will take to the stage.

There will also be special performances from the Strictly Come Dancing professionals, as well as a dramatic reading from actor Brian Cox who will be delivering a re-enactment of Sir Winston Churchill's famous war speech.

The couple arrived at Westminster Abbey this morning together to attend a Service of Thanksgiving alongside the King and Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent.

The service saw the King and Prince William lay wreaths at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, before they went on to meet veterans in the congregation.

The Princess looked stunning in a black and white polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich, a hat by Juliette Botterill and earrings which belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.

The couple's attendance at the concert comes as a surprise and a delight to royal fans. They were also joined by their three young children on Monday to attend a parade in front of Buckingham Palace, before they took to the balcony to watch an RAF flypast.

This evening's concert, which will be hosted by Zoe Ball, will "bring together music, storytelling, and tributes in a moving salute to those who served and sacrificed during World War II."

The full lineup for the show includes performances from Samantha Barks, Fleur East, John Newman, Victor Ray, Freya Ridings, Keala Settle, Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Calum Scott, The Darkness, Toploader, Tom Walker, Sir Willard White and the cast of 'Operation Mincemeat', who will sing excerpts from the World War II musical.
