When Brooklyn Beckham was announced as a driver for Jaguar TCS Racing in a Formula E event in February this year it marked just the latest "role" he has tried his hand at in his 26 years. At an age where most people are starting to build their career after leaving university he is a college drop out who, so far, has been unable to find his place in the workforce. Family therapist Diana Parkinson exclusively told Express.co.uk she believes Brooklyn and his siblings are suffering from "arrested development". "They have been a part of the family brand their whole lives and have no clue about the real world or work," she said.

Whatever the reason Brooklyn does appear to flit from profession to profession while failing to make his mark anywhere. Even his efforts to follow his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, into acting fell flat on their face when she unceremoniously cut him from her directorial debut. "I directed a film last year... and (Brooklyn) was like, 'Can I be in your movie?'...So he did a few parts in the background which, if you pay attention, you can find, but in one scene he’s like, 'Can I put the mic on, I wanna say a line? I started laughing so hard. He had the most British accent ever. I ended up cutting him out! He sat there, in the editing room, he was like, 'Did you really just cut me out while I’m sitting here?' I was like, 'Yes, I love you so much!'," she told the Hollywood Reporter:

This career humiliation is nothing new to Brooklyn who made his professional modelling debut in 2014 - the first of his many careers. While he did appear in editorials and on covers for Vogue China, Miss Vogue, Interview, L'Uomo Vogue, T:The New York Times Style Magazine and Dazed Korea and was photographed by the likes of Bruce Weber, Terry Richardson, Daniel Jackson and Alasdair McLellan, even he admitted it was not the job for him.

"I really am not a model," he said at the tender age of 18. "I have been lucky enough to have been asked to do some amazing shoots in front of the camera - and while I much prefer to be behind it, I have learned a huge amount from the photographers I have worked with. I hope to take those experiences with me as I continue to learn."

After giving up on modelling, he didn't fare much better when he decided to go behind the camera. In 2016 he was widely slammed after photgraphing a campaign for Burberry BRIT, starring models Ben Rees, Carvell Conduah, Eliza Thomas, Liv Mason Pearson and Maddie Demaine. Photographer Chris Floyd called it "devaluation of photography" and "sheer nepotism", while fashion photographer Jon Gorrigan said it was an example of "a bit of injustice in a lot of areas" of the industry.

Undeterred Brooklyn waltzed off to pursure a photography degree at Parsons School of Design at the New School in New York, which costs over $66,000 per year. While the Beckhams could afford it, their wallets didn't take a battering as he failed to even make it through year one of the four year course and subsequently abandoned his degree.

Despite this he was confident enough in his abilities to publish a book of photography. What I See was published by Random House in June 2017 to a largely negative response. He was ridiculed on Twitter, with users lampooning the "terrible photographs and even worse captions". Despite this he still managed to nab an internship with accliamed British photographer Rankin in 2019.

Somewhere between that period and 2021 his interest in photograpy waned and he decided he would become a professional chef. This was despite having no professional experience or training. He set up an online video series Cookin' With Brooklyn, which it was reported took 62 professionals to create, at a reported cost of $100,000 per eight minute episode.

Production values are no guarantee of popularity though Brooklyn's culinary career has failed to take off, with the public deriding his recipes, many of which are glorified sandwiches.

It would appear at this moment in time that Brooklyn's only role is that of husband and media personality.
