BBC Breakfast was brought to a halt on Wednesday (May 7) by hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent as they sent their co-star a special message live on-air.
Jon and Sally were back at the helm of the BBC programme, where they brought viewers the latest headlines and news updates, as well as several interviews.
The presenting duo interrupted the show as they introduced co-star Ben Boulos, who joined them in the studio. Jon then revealed it was actually Ben's birthday, and quipped: "Ben, I think we need a plate to put a nice birthday cake on!"
"A nice ceramic plate," Ben joked, as both Sally and Jon wished him happy birthday and he thanked them.
The BBC journalist jokingly added: "A commemorative plate, maybe?"
Sally then pointed out: "Can you believe he's working on his birthday?!" Prompting Jon to say: "He works all the time!"
Sally agreed with Jon's observation and he then branded Ben the "hardest working man here" as everyone fell about laughing. Later in the show, Sally and Jon issued another a sweet message, this time sending well wishes to Morning Live presenter Michelle Ackerley.
As the pair handed the reins over to Michelle and Gethin Jones at the end of BBC Breakfast, Sally congratulated Michelle on her pregnancy, which she announced on live TV on Tuesday.
At the end of their update, Sally then said: "And Michelle, before we let you go, we have to say big congratulations from the Breakfast team!" Michelle replied: "Aww, thank you! Thanks, Sally and Jon. Geth's going to be the coolest uncle, isn't he?"
Throwing her arm around him, Michelle then shared the responsibilities that Gethin would be doing.
She said: "Baby sitting, taking the baby out! You know it's going to be amazing!" Gethin laughed as he replied: "I never agreed to any of this but happy to support along the way!"
The Morning Live hosts erupted into laughter, with Jon then telling Michelle: "Lovely news, congratulations to you both!"
