Brooklyn Beckham's rift with his family is expected to be short-lived, according to a friend of his father David. The Beckhams have been at odds since Brooklyn tied the knot with heiress Nicola Peltz in 2022. However, the tension has escalated recently, after Brooklyn missed David's 50th birthday festivities. The Beckhams celebrated David's milestone with three events: a cosy family dinner at their Cotswolds home, a getaway to France, and a lively dinner in London.
Despite flying from Los Angeles to London to be with the Beckhams, Brooklyn and Nicola opted out of the star-studded London dinner on Saturday, leaving David devastated. The snub comes amid rumours that Brooklyn feels sidelined in favour of his brother Romeo, due to the family's apparent preference for him. Brooklyn reportedly set an ultimatum, demanding a private meeting with David instead of attending the parties where Romeo's girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, would be present, as they "have a problem with her". A source revealed: "He suggested going for breakfast or a coffee but was told the only chance to see the family would be at one of their lavish parties which Kim would likely be at, so he refused.", reports the Mirror.
David Beckham's cherished relationship with his son Brooklyn might soon mend, as told by David's confidant who divulged to the Daily Mail: "Blood is thicker than water. You've only got to look at Oasis. That is a perfect example of falling out of touch, becoming very distant, but the love and blood always comes through in the end."
Hairdresser Adee Phelan insisted, "[For David] it's his first born, it will come around again. There is too much love for it not to. I can't see the feud lasting."
Revelations have surfaced implicating Nicola in allegedly initiating disputes prior to family gatherings, leading to her husband's withdrawal from events. Rumours suggest Romeo has been left upset by the ordeal, with Kim bearing the fallout.
Meanwhile, an insider has said to Daily Mail: "Nicola encourages Brooklyn to see his family and is usually the reason Brooklyn does see his family. They are both devastated. They cannot believe that Victoria and David refused to see them privately after they travelled all the way to London specifically to try to repair the relationship."
They added: "As parents, it's shocking that Victoria and David are behaving this way... instead of privately discussing the issue. Victoria and David (appear to) have no interest in finding a solution that works for everyone."
A prior statement to the Mirror highlighted Brooklyn's absence from his birthday as "a real blow" to David. Brooklyn was close with his dad growing up, but he is married now," a source close to the family remarked. They continued by revealing, "His wife Nicola is older and confident in her own right, and so there is distance between Brooklyn and his parents.
"It has become a problem and not something they can keep private because of the way the family uses social media. Things have escalated in recent months, and there is a very obvious rift that David and Victoria would love to heal."
