Rebekah Vardy has agreed to pay Coleen Rooney a six-figure sum - six years after she lost their Wagatha Christie libel case.

Mrs Vardy, 42, was ordered to pay 90 percent of her rival's legal bills after was humiliated during a court case in which she was accused of leaking stories about Wayne Rooney's wife to the press.

It was today revealed she has agreed to pay almost £1.2million of her one-time friend's legal costs.

A specialist costs court was previously been told Mrs Rooney ran up a legal bill totalling more than £1.8 million after she successfully defended Mrs Vardy's High Court claim in 2022.

In written submissions for a hearing Mrs Vardy's barrister, Juliet Wells, said Mrs Rooney's total legal bill of £1,833,906.89 "has now been settled at £1,190,000 - being [around] £1,125,000 plus interest of [around] £65.000".

Ms Wells said Mrs Rooney is now claiming "assessment costs" of more than £300,000, which she described as "grossly disproportionate" and should be capped at "no more than £100,000".

The full amount of the assessment costs will be determined at a seperate and final hearing but Judge Mark Whalan said he was "pleased" the two sides had come to a "commercial accommodation".

Neither Mrs Vardy nor Mrs Rooney attended the hearing, which was held remotely.

Mrs Vardy and her footballing hero husband Jamie are now reportedly set to leave Britain and are eyeing a move across the Atlantic.

It comes after he recently confirmed the end of his Leicester City career after a glittering spell that has saw him win the Premier League, FA Cup and appear for England at the World Cup. 

The 38-year-old footballer, who announced his departure from Leicester last week, is now being courted by several teams in America.

Asked what Leicester mean to him he said: "It's been everything.

"It's been mine and my family's life for 13 years. We've been taken in by the fans and the whole city, and it has meant every single thing to me personally.

"When it's been your life for that long and you see the camaraderie with the fans and my team-mates for the last 13 years, it's been unbelievable."
