Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz decided not to attend the Met Gala after Brooklyn was left upset by his dad David's decision to not see him and Nicola to celebrate his 50th. According to TMZ, Brooklyn presented his family with an ultimatum after he wished to celebrate David's birthday privately, rather than at a star-studded event with Kim Kardashian in attendance.
It is understood that although Brooklyn did not publicly wish his father on his birthday, he did send David a text message. "He suggested going for breakfast or a coffee but was told the only chance to see the family would be at one of their lavish parties which Kim would be at - so he refused," the source disclosed to The Sun. The fall-out led the couple to decide to withdraw from the Met Gala at the eleventh hour. The couple had intended to grace the glamorous event, hosted by Dame Anna Wintour, and had informed Brooklyn's parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of their plans.
However, the couple have recently been embroiled in controversy for failing to attend any of David's 50th birthday celebrations. Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, had flown into London for the concluding night of festivities but ultimately didn't show up, leaving David devastated. It's alleged that Brooklyn didn't want to be around his brother Romeo's girlfriend, Kim Turnbull.
While Brooklyn's family was aware of his plans to jet off to New York for the Met Gala, things took a dramatic turn, with the couple eventually deciding against facing the public glare.
"They cancelled plans to attend the Met because they really intended to be at David's party on Saturday," a source revealed to The Sun. The insider continued, expressing Brooklyn's dismay: "But Brooklyn is really upset that blame for the rift has been levelled at Nicola", reports the Mirror.
Meanwhile, another source spoke to the Daily Mail, stating: "Victoria and David would do anything to get their son back, but they are done with Nicola now."
The source also blamed Nicola for the ongoing feud, alleging that she "finds a way to start an argument" between Brooklyn and his renowned family. They further claimed that while Brooklyn had initially planned to join the birthday festivities, his wife would invariably "kick something off" rendering his presence at the event "impossible".
The source alleged: "It all stinks of a control thing. The family are absolutely certain this is what happened this time round, that a drama was created and Brooklyn doesn't feel he can turn up to see his family – but it happened three times in a week."
