Viewers were convinced Keir Starmer was blanked by Queen Camilla during the VE Day ceremony, which is currently being broadcast to the nation.

A snippet of live coverage showed the Prime Minister chatting away next to the royal, who did not react to the conversation going on around her.

Amused by the awkward moment, one viewer said: "Keir Starmer blanked by Camilla. Pretty much all of us right now!"

Another theorised: "Camilla didn't look very happy stuck next to Keir Starmer at the VE Day parade." And a third posted a laughing meme, adding: "Queen Camilla totally ignored Starmer..."

Despite viewers chuckling at the coverage, it all comes down to the angle cameras were at.

Queen Camilla didn't actually ignore the Prime Minister – as he was likely chatting to someone else sitting behind her.

One eagle-eyed commenter pointed out: "He’s not sitting next to her. He’s in the row behind talking to whoever is behind Camilla."

The King and Queen have led the nation in "celebrating, commemorating and giving thanks to the wartime generation whose selfless devotion, duty and service should stand as an enduring example to us all - and must never be forgotten", a Palace aide said.

Events begin today (Monday, May 5) – with a military procession through central London. Following this procession, members of the Royal Family will appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the flypast.

The flypast will be central to what is the first of four days of celebrations marking the Allies’ Second World War victory in Europe.

It will begin at 13:45 and last for approximately five minutes. A Lancaster bomber will be the only aircraft from the conflict taking part, with Spitfire and Hurricane fighter planes flown by the pilots known as ‘The Few’ during the Battle of Britain not making an appearance.

The King and Queen will later host a Tea Party for veterans and members of the Second World War generation at Buckingham Palace. This will include British and Commonwealth Armed Forces veterans, WRENs, Special Operations Executives and those who contributed to the war effort on the home front, accompanied by their families and carers.
