In the third episode, viewers followed Dina (Isabela Merced) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) on their relentless quest to seek vengeance against Abby Anderson (Kaitlyn Dever) and her group for the brutal killing of Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal).

Upon reaching Seattle, they discovered that the city was rife with threats beyond the infected and Bloaters.

The latest instalment of the HBO drama featured major twists, placing Ellie and Dina in perilous situations as they pursued Abby.

After Joel's demise at Abby's hands, fans are increasingly anxious about what might befall Ellie (Bella Ramsey).

Does Ellie die in The Last of Us?

Fans can breathe a sigh of relief; Ellie survives in The Last of Us video games, from which the HBO series is derived.

As the protagonist of The Last of Us, the show is anticipated to remain true to its original narrative.

The series is essentially Ellie's odyssey of sorrow and retribution amidst the chaos of the Cordyceps pandemic, with Joel's death marking the start of her personal tale.

Neil Druckmann, co-creator of The Last of Us, reflected on the parallels between Abby and Ellie during Inside the Episode for the second episode, noting: "I think some viewers will start seeing some parallels between Abby and Ellie.

"Abby has lost her dad, and now, inadvertently, Abby has created those same nightmares for another character.

"This event will change all the characters we know, forever, from this point on."

He added: "Now, this person that's capable of such violence, this impulsive character, what's going to happen to them next?".

With season three greenlit by HBO, it is anticipated to conclude Ellie's narrative while fans are eager to discover if she achieves her vengeance.

The Last of Us delves deeply into the theme of grief, portraying Joel as shattered by his daughter's death at the outset of the epidemic, and subsequently finding love anew when Ellie steps in as a surrogate daughter.

Consequently, the show depicts how Abby's sorrow transforms into anger, with Ellie experiencing a similar metamorphosis as she copes with bereavement and anger following her own loss.
