Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder has posted a sweet tribute to his daughter on Instagram for her birthday. The singer, 62, posted a photo of LuLu all dolled up for a night out in a black cut out dress with matching knee-high boots. He gushed: "Happy 16th Birthday to my fab super duper youngest daughter Lulu!! I am so proud of her. Love from dad."
Shaun had LuLu with his wife Joanne, who he shares another daughter called Pearl with. While Shaun adores his kids, he has previously admitted that his wife has very much ruled the roost when it came to raising the children.
Shaun told the Daily Mail: "I mean, I've got to put my hands up and say my misses sorts out all the kids. If I were in charge of the kids I’d have had them taken off me by social f**king services years ago!"
He went on to joke that his teenage daughters are "absolutely mad girls", saying that he found parenting boys easy but to him girls were "hard work".
Before having Pearl and LuLu, Shaun had four other kids - Jael, Coco, Joseph and Oliver - with three different women. He has since shared that he has ADHD, which he passed down to many of his offspring.
The Celebrity Gogglebox star elaborated on how that has affected his kids, saying: "When I was 59 I got diagnosed with ADHD, so that explained all the f**king madness, you know, all this sort of early promiscuous behaviour, all the drinking, drugs, and everything else. I've got six kids, two are undiagnosed, and the rest are all ADHD. That all comes from me."
It seems that one more of his kids was later diagnosed with ADHD, as he went on to tell the Sun in 2023: "I have six kids and five of them have it. That's why I'm always working, because I've got to pay for their f***ing therapy."
Pearl and LuLu are two of the children he has attributed with having the neurodevelopmental condition, adding: "One of my girls is a Maths genius - there's traces of autism in ADHD. Not everyone's got traces of autism in the ADHD, not everyone has a bad memory."
While Shaun might face some struggles when it comes to his family life, at work right now it's full steam ahead. The I'm A Celeb star told the Sun that Happy Mondays are currently working on a new album, 18 years on from when they produced their last record.
He teased: "It’s going to be visionary. It's going to be massive. With all my heart and soul, I want it more than anyone."
