If you're looking for a warm and sunny May holiday, well, look no further than Cyprus' southern coast, which boasts one of Europe's warmest destinations for a beach holiday this month. The city of Limassol is the hottest destination in Cyprus with temperatures that reach up to 29C, also making it the warmest beach destination in Europe in May. With its over nine miles of beachfront, the sunny destination is a great choice for Brits who are eager to get away.

The city is home to plenty of beaches for visitors to soak up the sun and enjoy a vast number of activities, including swimming and other watersports. While all the beaches offer unique beauty, what is guaranteed across the board is excellent facilities and clear waters. 

According to TripAdvisor Kourion Beach, rated an impressive 4.5 stars is the Limassol's most popular beach, and in the city's top three things to do. One visitor said: "Our favourite beach in all of Cyprus, we’ve been coming to Cyprus for over a decade and always come back to Kourin beach, it’s usually a fairly quiet beach with plenty of space for walking and swimming.

"There are several places on the beach where you can get food and or a cold beer as well as decent facilities such as changing areas, parking and bathrooms. Also plenty to do in the surrounding area with the ancient amphitheatre visible on the hills surrounding the beach and Limassol being a short drive too. Definitely recommend."

In the western part of the city lies Limassol's Lady's Mile Beach, which stretches for four miles. The coastal spot features dark grey sands, pebbles, and shallow, crystal-clear water, making it ideal for families. Visitors on TripAdvisor have praised the beach for its "great views over Limassol" and its "peaceful" atmosphere.

There are plenty of things to enjoy in the city beyond the beaches. Limassol is a place full of adventure, where nature lovers can dive at the destination's reefs and visit caverns and caves, teeming with marine life. 

The city is also full of history and culture, showcased in the many museums, churches, and galleries. At the centre of Limassol is the city's old town, where a walk through the narrow streets will take you right back in time. While it houses a number of old buildings, including the Limassol Castle, it also has modern touches.

There are plenty of shops and cafes that line the winding streets, giving visitors an insight into the city's vibrant culture.
