Adorable baby Princess Ines of Sweden made her royal balcony debut at her grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf's birthday celebrations. On April 30, Sweden's King rang in his 79th birthday, which came with a traditional celebration by the Armed Forces in the outer courtyard of the Royal Palace in Stockholm and a much-awaited balcony appearance by the Swedish royal family.
Mum, Princess Sofia, and dad, Prince Carl Philip, welcomed their daughter Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia in February. The royal couple are also parents to sons Prince Alexander, 9, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julian, 4.
The little princess' middle names honor Sofia's mother, Marie, and Carl Philip's mother, Queen Silvia.
Princess Sofia carried Princess Ines on the terrace of the royal residence, where they matched in white outfits. Cameras captured a sweet moment where the family seemingly turned to look at little Princess Ines, who will turn three months old next week.
On February 7, 2025, the Swedish Royal Court shared the happy news that Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, 40, welcomed their fourth child.
The royal couple introduced their daughter to the world via Instagram with the caption: "Princess Ines photographed by Princess Sofia."
The baby was pictured asleep, wearing a white onsie with strawberries on it, and Princess Ines was wrapped under pastel blankets.
King Carl XVI Gustaf turned 79 on April 30 and the monarch was joined by most of his family on the palace balcony, including his wife Queen Silvia. He is Europe's longest-serving monarch, having ascended the throne in 1973.
Throughout the appearance on the balcony, Princess Ines remained wrapped in a white blanket and was held by Princess Sofia, who stood next to her husband Prince Carl Philip. Two of their three sons, Prince Julian and Prince Gabriel, were pictured on the balcony as well.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will meet King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle later today (Thursday May 1) as part of a brief visit to the UK.
The King and Queen of Sweden have gifted the Royal Family a Swedish oak tree which will be planted in the Home Park of Windsor Castle.
