With the weather improving you might be thinking about venturing to a beautiful outdoor spot to explore in the coming days and weeks.

Whether its for hiking, a long walk, sunbathing or a picnic, the UK has plenty of spots that are perfect for the whole family to enjoy a day out. But, people say they "can't believe" they have only just discovered one picturesque location in Staffordshire named Kinver Edge.

Kinver Edge is filled with incredible views, a wildlife paradise, and unusual homes carved into a rock. The area is home to soft red sandstone which makes it look like Arizona in the US.

The sandstone has a network of cavernous houses built into its three rocks - Nanny's Rock, Vale's Rock, and Holy Austin. According to the National Trust, the earliest record of people living in the quirky rock houses was in 1777. These were some of the last cave dwellings in England that were inhabited by families until the 1960s.

Nearby there is an abundance of pubs and restaurants and a historic walking path where ancient civillians once stood. One woman went viral recently after sharing a video clip of her experience at the "hidden gem".

Birmingham woman Bella loves sharing her recommendations for the best walking spots, travel tips and food. She recently visited Kinver Edge, which is approximately 45 minutes from Birmingham, and said: "The West Midlands suprisingly has more hidden gems than you think. This is Nanny's Rock in Kinver.

"We did a circular route following the purple arrows and taking about two hours. This took us past Nanny's Rock and also the National Trust rock houses. The area that we're exploring here is totally free but the rock houses do cost, I think £7.50 and there's a little cafe too."

She described the spot as "amazing" and said the walking route is easy. The trail is around 6.4km and is considered a moderately challenging route. The trail is open all year round and is dog friendly, but they must be on leads.

Bella added: "The parking is great because it's free here on Compton Road or on Kingsford Lane."

Just as stunned as Bella, one individual commented and said: "Wow, I can't believe this is in the UK, what a great place." "Looks great," agreed another. "So beautiful, can't believe I never knew about it," wrote another. "Amazing what nature is giving us," noted one other.

"This is where I did my DOFE [Duke of Edinburgh award]. It was amazing, I would recommend."

Another shared their experience and said: "Ahh did this a few weeks ago. Lovely little walk. The rock houses are sooo cute! Have the veg soup and the kids had scones which were delicious at the cafe."

In another video, Sarah who shares things to do in West Midlands on her page @stufftodowestmidlands, said: "It's like the Grand Canyan." She concluded that the view at Kinver Edge is "the best in West Midlands".
