If you want a gorgeous weekend away where you can get up close and personal with amazing wildlife, then this spot in North Wales is perfect for you. Known to locals as Angel Bay, Porth Dyniewaid is a secret cove just minutes from tourist spot Llandudno, and it is quietly becoming one of the UK’s top locations for spotting seals in the wild.

The secluded cove is a favourite spot for grey seals who visit with their pups in the autumn. Although autumn is a popular time for seal spotting, people who head to the cove will be able to spot them almost year-round. 

There is no access to the beach, but the view from above down into the cove is spectacular - and this way, the seals stay protected from people. 

From the rugged cliffs above the beach, you can enjoy sweeping vistas out over the Irish Sea and on clear days you can spot dozens of seals bobbing in the water or basking on the sun-warmed rocks.

It’s untouched, and while on nice days you might spot other walkers, you won’t see queues, ticket booths or gift shops. 

Visitors to the cove have raved about it on Tripadvisor,m saying the walk is gorgeous and the view from the top is stunning. One visitor wrote: “Absolutely beautiful place with unreal views! So peaceful as we went later in the evening to watch the sunset. We spotted quite a few seals on the shore and in the sea”

Another said: “Such a surprise, even though the only reason we visited was to see the seals. We never imagined so many of them lounging on the beach, taking little dips in the sea, barking and talking amongst themselves.

"Could’ve stayed and watched all day. Beautiful to see them in their natural habitat and the walk to the beach follows an easy path so it was a very pleasant stroll.”
