The Duke of Sussex will attend the 22nd Living Legends of Aviation awards ceremony tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, alongside a number of A-listers and aviation heroes. At last year's event in 2024, Prince Harry was honoured as a Living Legend due to his experience flying as a pilot in the British Army - and while on stage, he accused the host and actor, John Travolta, of "dining out" on the story of dancing with his late mum, Princess Diana of Wales.

During the event, Harry was inducted into the "Living Legends of Aviation" for his work as a British Army veteran and pilot. While taking the stage for his acceptance speech, he clapped the Hollywood actor on the shoulder and said: "This is nice. Thanks very much, Captain John."

He said: "I was one year old when you danced with my mum. As you've told everybody here and continue to dine out on that probably every single night."

He added: "But look at us now! It's great. So if we’re not going to dance together, we'll fly together."

After the audience started laughing, Harry appeared to jokingly hold his hand up to dismiss Travolta, as he said: "Thank you, that’s it, we're done."

Prince Harry served for 10 years in the military, rising to the rank of Captain, and later founded the Invictus Games - a sporting event for wounded military personnel and veterans.

Last year, the event's website also praised the duke for his work with charities and organisations including Travalyst, Sentebale, African Parks and WellChild. A statement on its website said: "Prince Harry is a humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate and environmentalist. He has dedicated his life to advancing causes that he is passionate about and that bring about permanent change for people and places."

Tonight, Harry will once again join various A-listers, including Morgan Freeman and John Travolta. The latter, as ambassador of aviation, will host the awards. The ceremony will celebrate all aerial firefighters who helped combat the devastating wildfires which spread havoc in California earlier this year.

According to Flying magazine, honourees this year will include Christopher Cassidy, a former Navy SEAL and NASA astronaut who logged three spaceflights, 10 spacewalks, and a total of logging 377 days in space, Robert "Hoot" Gibson, a former astronaut, Navy fighter pilot, and air race pilot, and Tom Costello, NBC’s lead aviation and space correspondent and an Emmy award-winning reporter.

This year, the ceremony will hand the inaugural Dr. Buzz Aldrin Space Advancement Award to the Polaris Dawn Crew for their first "historic" mission.

The ceremony will honour the mission's commander, Jared Isaacman, pilot Scott "Kid" Poteet, specialist Sarah Gillis, and specialist and medical officer Anna Menon for performing "cutting-edge experiments, high-altitude orbital manoeuvres, and the first private spacewalk".
