The Bank Holiday is here and as the weather is looking clear and bright, making it the perfect time for a walk. And some will be heading to this gorgeous hidden gem in the UK.

Most of us have four days off and as we all begin to tuck into Easter eggs and indulge in some lovely food. So,it makes sense we'll want to get some physical exercise in there too.

If you want to getaway from your hometown over the long weekend, there are plenty of places to get your steps and make a day of it. Whether you're looking for a huge hike with hills galore or perhaps looking for a less taxing route.

One woman insists that this incredible hidden gem in Devon is perfect for a beautiful walk, exploring incredible waterfalls, and the UK's very own "rainforest". Lyford Gorge is the deepest river gorge in the south west and one of Devon's great gems, surrounded by ancient woodland. The National Trust spot is a three mile walk which also has a kids' play area and a tearoom.

You can take the 'long and easy' route around Lyford Gorge or the 'short and steep' trail. Walking the full route takes around two hours, or if you take it slower and stop for picnic breaks, it will take around three to four hours.

Amy Hulley, who loves uncovering underrated destinations in the UK and sharing travel tips online, shared her experience at the spot. Amy, who raked in millions of views on her TikTok videos, shared: "I recently visited the deepest gorge in the South West, a place I've wanted to see for a long time and close to my home town in North Devon.

"So on a recent trip to visit my family, my mum and I ventured out for the day to explore more and what a lovely day we had! This gorge is filled with temperate rainforest, which is now a globally rare habitat which is and stays green and full of life all year round. It really is the most beautiful place."

She added: "Home to the impressive White Lady Waterfall, which plunges 30 meters into the gorge. The Devil's Cauldron, another remarkable feature, is a swirling whirlpool that showcases the power of nature."

Amy, who insists people put this spot on their bucket lists, continued: "Managed by the National Trust, this area offers well-maintained paths and informative signs to enhance your visit. With its rich history, including tales of bandits and hidden treasure, Lydford Gorge is not just a natural wonder but a place steeped in legend."

The video garnered more than 13,000 likes since it was posted – and many rushed to the comments section to share their experiences.

One wrote: "Just got back home from Lydford Gorge it's amazing place to visit." Another commented: "I love it there and it's just up the road from me."
