Mike Tindall has shared a down-to-earth detail about how he and wife Zara Tindall choose their holiday spots, and it’s one that many of us can relate to.  Speaking about how the couple choose their holiday destinations, the former England rugby star revealed a particular priority when it comes to booking a hotel, checking if there’s a gym.

But it’s not necessarily because he plans to use it. “I always try to stay fit during a break,” he once told The Telegraph, “but the gym is one of the first things I look into when I’m booking a hotel. Even if you don’t use it, it’s nice to have the option.”

The comment, both candid and amusing, has resonated with fans who admit to having the same approach, packing workout gear with the best of intentions, only for it to remain untouched in the suitcase.

Tindall, who married equestrian and Olympic silver medallist Zara in 2011, says they enjoy an active holiday lifestyle, often blending physical activity with time to unwind.

The couple share a passion for skiing and regularly hit the slopes together, having visited resorts in Chamonix and Switzerland. “We’ll probably do a ski trip every year,” he noted.

Despite his sporting background, Mike is also a fan of downtime on a beach, cocktail in hand, and values the chance to relax when he can.

His idea of the perfect holiday includes a bit of everything, from water sports and sightseeing to simply switching off.

The dad of three also shared that while Zara’s the horse expert, he leaves the riding to her. “I could deal with 18-stone men,” he joked, “but half-ton horses I’ll leave to her.”

With past holidays ranging from laid-back Greek islands to wild survival treks in the Costa Rican rainforest, the couple clearly don’t shy away from variety, but for Mike, knowing there’s a gym nearby, even if he doesn’t step foot in it, just adds that extra bit of comfort.
