BBC weather preseter Angie Phillips has broadcast her final forecast after three decades with the flagship channel. On Thursday (April 3) the mum-of-three, who has taken voluntary redundancy form the braodcaster, took to X following her last ever on screen presentation on Newsline. The TV star expressed her gratitude to everyone who had been part of her journey over the years with a touching post online.

It read: "And the final outlook! Thank you to the BBC, Met Office, Meteogroup, friends & colleagues who have been so good to me but especially to the viewers, listeners, Weather Watchers & those on social media who have stayed tuned & connected over the years. Forever grateful. Angie." Fans flooded the comments with messages of support expressing their sadness at her departure.

One user penned: "Sorely missed. You have always been a pleasure in the eye and ear Angie, and your meteorological skills have been without equal."

Another added: "All the best Angie, we will miss you loads and all the best for the future," as a third chimed in with: "My best wishes Angie for the future. Thanks also for sharing some my photos over the years on your weather forecasts. Nice that your final forecast has a lot of of sunny days ahead."

"All the best for the future Angie, thanks for being a huge part of our local TV service for all these years," a fourth commented. A fifth echoed: "Surprised to say the least, hope this is early retirement and wishing you all the best for the future.

"Have always enjoyed your forecasts over the years, before I met you, and afterwards as well. Wishing you lots of sunny days going forward, my best wishes always." A sixth penned: "You have been great. Ever professional, hope the forecast for you has plenty of sunshine."

After taking the time to respond to the comments, Angie admitted she was "overwhelmed" by all the well wishes. In a further post, she added: "A bit overwhelmed with good wishes! Sorry, can’t keep up but would like to say a very big thank to everyone for getting in touch! You’ve all been great! Ax."

Angie trained at the Met Office College and at Reading College of Technology. She has held positions at the Belfast Climate Office, Edinburgh Climate Office, and as a forecaster at Glasgow Weather Centre and Aldergrove.

She started working as part of the ITN weather team in 1993 before joining BBC NI's Newsline team in 1996. Alongside presenting, she also wrote the BBC News' online weather coverage
