TUI customers can get extra luggage allowance of up to 25kg per person when booking five types of holidays. The popular airline allows all customers to take one piece of hand luggage up to 10kg per person as standard, plus one small personal item, such as laptop bag or a handbag.

If bags are larger than the hand luggage allowance dimensions, then passengers must check-in their luggage. Normally, package holidays with TUI Airways allow passengers to take a checked bag of up to 20kg per person, but if you book one of five types of package holiday then you’ll get an extra 5kg to take your total allowance up to 25kg.

TUI says that all of the following holidays come with a 25kg luggage allowance when passengers are travelling on a TUI Airways flight:

• TUI BLUE
• Sensatori by TUI BLUE
• Holiday Villages
• A La Carte
• TUI River Cruise package

Additionally, passengers who have upgraded to Premium on long-haul flights with TUI Airways will also get 25kg of luggage included - regardless of the holiday type.

TUI explains: “Your luggage allowance will vary depending on what type of holiday you book with us. When you fly both ways with TUI Airways as part of a package holiday, it will include at least 20kg of checked-in luggage per person and 10kg for Under 2s.

“When you’re flying on a TUI Airways flight the following holidays come with a 25kg luggage allowance per person: TUI BLUE, Sensatori by TUI BLUE, Holiday Villages, A La Carte and TUI River Cruises package.

“If you’ve upgraded to Premium on long-haul flights with TUI Airways, you’ll also get 25kg of luggage, regardless of the holiday type.

“Marella Cruises and Marella Cruise & Stay holidays have a 20kg luggage allowance per person. Couples who’ve booked one of our wedding packages will get 25kg hold luggage each when flying with TUI Airways.”

But if passengers arrive at the airport with luggage in excess of the allocated allowance, then they face extra charges, and these fees may vary depending on the season you’re travelling.

TUI adds: “For package bookings that include a checked-in luggage allowance and for flight only bookings that have already added a checked-in allowance:

• Short and mid-haul flights (less than seven hours) - £14 per additional kilo
• Long-haul flights (over seven hours) - £18 per additional kg

For flight only bookings who have not added a checked-in luggage allowance:

• Short and mid-haul flights (less than seven hours): £55 per 15kg bag* and £14 per additional kilo.
• Long-haul flights (over seven hours): £75 per 15kg bag* and £18 per additional kilo.”
